Group Classes and Sessions are in the Works through a digital online platform you've probably heard of called, Zoom. You must download the app or program, which is free to the invitee. This will give us opportunity to have a class session together. You can opt to have your photo shown during the class in progress or just turn off the camera. Then participants will only see your name. Seeing your faces is important, I feel to staying connected. During class your audio will be muted but there is option to comment. For now you can be prepated by uploading the Zoom.com program or App to your phone or PC.
These classses will have fees associated with them. The classes are in the works for latest April 6th, if not sooner. Befriending Your Back:
Wisdom of the Body
(Details, fees, and dates further below)
Lingering back pain is one of the most perplexing, yet shared feeling of pain, folks will experience at least one time in their lives. This class will explore pain and disharmony in a non-traditional, novel way. Current research proves that pain is not only limited to the body, but effected by the mind. Often programs geared toward pain relief and physical dysfuntion only address the physical aspects leaving out the emotional/mental integral aspect of healing. Here in Befriending Your Back we will learn both physical and emotional components to pain, and how even if we feel we are "doing" all the right things physically, emotions can play a roll, and how we can utilize the body's pain messages to lead us to freedom. We will look at the metaphysical as well as the physical elements to creating healthy backcare yoga. We will learn from pioneers in the mind/body field such as Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn, Peter Levine, Ph.D., Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk and Deb Shapiro.
On a physical level we will learn to cope with back pain and conditions by learning how to strengthen and stretch the muscles which play crucial roles in back health. Techniques and methodology taught by internationally renowned Iyengar yoga teacher and author, Dr. Loren Fishman MD, of the Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, will be infused into Pamela's teachings. She is certified by Dr. Fishman in his Seven Back Conditions, and has gained personal insight through her own challenges of degenerative disc disease, herniated disc, scoliosis, S.I. Dysfunction and an eventual spinal fusion. Befriending Your Back is based on her 30 plus years of experience, both personal and professional.

Why a Semi Private Class ?
These classes are for groups of 4-6 students with specialized areas of interest and need. Semi Private Classes are a natural progression from Private Individual Yoga with additional modification. They grew out of a need to not only make yoga accessible to "every body," but to reach the individual person, body, mind and soul for optimal self actualization. In addition to Befriending Your Back: Wisdom of the Body, additional examples include: Therapeutic Yoga Workshop: Graceful Aging, and Creative Visualization for Positive Change. Deep Yoga Nidra for Rejuvenation
Greenleaf is housed in the beautiful red brick, historic Railway Express building, which warmly holds the space for deep relaxation and peace which will elicite equalibrium in body and thus mind. It follows that then in deep states of relaxation positive seeds of change may be sown.
Greenleaf's Studio North is reserved exclusively for 8 students studying the art and science of yoga and meditation. Individualized attention and modifications make for a pleasant, safe, and effective practice, in which the tradition is taught from teacher to student, often one-on-one, and in intimate groups.
Greenleaf's Studio South is a little slice of Zen adjacent to Studio North, designed for one to four students and reserved for both private and small groups to relieve mental- emotional stress, clearing and preparing the mind for the life you were meant to live! The warm hewn wood and aged brick of Studio South is created with privacy and solitude in mind through sound buffering materials, and enhanced comfort through the use of anti-gravity chairs during sessions. Studio South is solely reserved for solo private journeys along with small group exploration of guided Hypnosis for Positive Change; deep relaxation & mindfulness classes, called Yoga Nidra, creative visualization sessions & classes, we called Creative Road Mapping; and 1/2 hour & Full hour Stress Reduction Sessions.

Befriending Your Back:
Wisdom of the Body
semi private class
Tuesdays 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
12-week series| $342| PT;G; B; ET
Befriending Your Back will explore pain and disharmony in a non-traditional, fresh way. Currently research in schience acknowledges the wisdom of the body's intelligence and self preserving essence. In addition to traditional modified therapeutic yoga, and Dr. Loren Fishman's 7 Back Conditions Pamela is certified in, we will learn to "listen" to the pain body, as Eckhardt Tolle calls it; recognize it; acknowledge it; validate it; and befriend it. Often the pain body 'speaks' to us harsher and harsher until we 'listen.' As 'tools,' we will be using physical yoga posture and form, movement, mindfulness practices, intention, reflection & journaling, guided visualization, meditaiton and self-hypnosis to create a new relastionship with the discomfort or pain.
Lingering back pain is one of the most perplexing, yet shared pain experences folks will experience at least one time in their lives. Here in Befriending Your Back we will learn what physical and emotional components contribute to pain, how to listen to those cues, recognize that even if we feel we are "doing" all the right things from a physical perspective, emotions and hormones can play a roll. We will learn from pioneers in the mind/body field such as Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn, Peter Levine, Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk and Deb Shapiro.
Common conditions addressed include: degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, generalized, undiagnosed back strain, chronic muscle strain, scoliosis, stenosis, piriformis syndrome, sacroilliac dynsfunction, facet syndrome and herniated disc issues. Techniques and methodology taught by internationally renowned Iyengar yoga teacher and author, Dr. Loren Fishman MD, of the Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, will be infused into Pamela's teachings, and is based on her personal and professional experience of 30 years.
In April 2016, Pamela O'Brien, CYT, received certification personally from Dr. Loren Fishman MD, of the Manhattan Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, NYC, in his methodology in treating 7 low back conditions.

Creative Visualization
for Positive Change
Wednesdays 9:30 to 10:40 a.m.
Specal Studio South Series
6-week session|$150| M, G, B, ET
We mean well: think more positively; eat healthy; get enough rest; stop smoking! Why is change so difficult? Change is challenging because it takes a lot of repetition free of the conscious mind's sabbateur to get the positive seeds of change planted. Getting the conscious mind and Ego out of the way is the first step in receiving what we want out of our life, not just what we're dealt. In this class we will discover our desires and go to the fertile soil of the subconscious terrain in deeper states of relaxation to plant the seeds of change; then water them through a practice of self hypnosis while outside class, daily. Listen to what cellular biologist, pioneer in the field of epigenetics and author of Biology of Belief, Dr. Bruce Lipton has to say about the subconscious mind and positive change!
Deeper & Subtler
Wednedays 6:30 to 8 p.m.
12-week sessions| $240 each| I; M

Recharge and renew, finding yourself able to sleep better, grow stronger, cope with stress, and empower your immune function. Learning to find acceptance in the present, which magically brings transformation. Learning to Be~ Rather than Do! The mindfulness and peace of yogic principles become an extension of our life; our life becomes and extention of what we learn on the mat. We will also explore directing positive intention through creative visualization and Yoga Nidra at the culmination of the practice.
* Missed classes can be madeup in other classes during current Winter Session, and must be arranged. Need Minimum of 4 students. To derive the most out of this class, and because this is an intermediate class, experience is needed and helpful.
